Tractable dynamic global games and applications

چکیده
We present a family of tractable dynamic global games and its applications. Agents privately learn about a fixed fundamental, and repeatedly adjust their investments while facing frictions. The game exhibits many externalities: payoffs may depend on the volume of investment, on its volatility, and on its concentration. The solution is driven by an invariance result: aggregate investment is (in a pivotal contingency) invariant to a large family of frictions. We use the invariance result to examine how frictions, including those similar to the Tobin tax, affect equilibrium. We identify conditions under which frictions discourage harmful behavior without compromising investment volume. ∗Early drafts of this manuscript circulated under the title “Sand in the Wheels: A Dynamic GlobalGame Approach”. We have benefited from comments by Sylvain Chassang, Federico Echenique, Eugen Kováč, Filip Matějka, David Myatt, Alessandro Pavan, József Sákovics, Ennio Stacchetti, Colin Stewart, Jonathan Weinstein, and from audiences at Edinburgh, NYU, HECER in Helsinki, the University of Texas at Austin, the Kansas Theory Workshop, the Midwest theory conference at Vanderbilt, and the conferences “Information and Coordination: Theory and Applications”, EEA-ESEM in OSLO, and SED in Cyprus. Dynamic system of strategic games
Maybe an event can't be modeled completely through one game but there is more chance with several games. With emphasis on players' rationality, we present new properties of strategic games, which result in production of other games. Here, a new attitude to modeling will be presented in game theory as dynamic system of strategic games and its some applications such as analysis of the clash betwe...
متن کاملMaximal elements of $mathscr{F}_{C,theta}$-majorized mappings and applications to generalized games
In the paper, some new existence theorems of maximal elements for $mathscr{F}_{C,theta}$-mappings and $mathscr{F}_{C,theta}$-majorized mappings are established. As applications, some new existence theorems of equilibrium points for one-person games, qualitative games and generalized games are obtained. Our results unify and generalize most known results in recent literature.
متن کاملApproachability in Stackelberg Stochastic Games with Vector Costs
The notion of approachability was introduced by Blackwell [1] in the context of vector-valued repeated games. The famous ‘Blackwell’s approachability theorem’ prescribes a strategy for approachability, i.e., for ‘steering’ the average vector cost of a given agent towards a given target set, irrespective of the strategies of the other agents. In this paper, motivated by the multi-objective optim...
متن کاملA review on symmetric games: theory, comparison and applications
Game theory models decision makers' behaviors in strategic situations. Since the structures of games are different, behavior and preferences of the players are different in various types of game. This paper reviews various situations of games. Here, characteristics of some common games are discussed and compared. Specifically, we focus on a group of games called symmetric games including Prison...
متن کاملSubgame Consistent Solution for Random-Horizon Cooperative Dynamic Games
In cooperative dynamic games a stringent condition – that of subgame consistency – is required for a dynamically stable cooperative solution. In particular, a cooperative solution is subgame consistent if an extension of the solution policy to a subgame starting at a later time with a state brought about by prior optimal behavior would remain optimal. This paper extends subgame consistent solut...
